Okay, be honest…did the title make you think of the original Boy Band?!? Man, I love NKOTB! {Hang on till the end of this post and I will prove it!}

In their honor, I created You’ve Got the WRITE Stuff!

This pack is filled with 120 Writing Topics & Ideas to get your kids thinking! Gone are the days you hear, “I don’t know what to write about!”

To use, simply print the topics out on cardstock, laminate for durability and display them at your writing center.  Kids are free to choose a topic that gets them excited to write!

Free Writing Ideas and Topics for 1st Graders

Here are some examples of writing ideas you can get with this product!

  • Pretend you are a butterfly. Describe what you see as you fly.
  • Write about your weekend.
  • What do you admire most about your dad? Explain.
  • Imagine you are miles away from a doctor and get sick. What do you do?
  • What do you think it was like to live in the 1980s?
  • List 5 things you can make using chocolate.
  • Imagine you had a perfect day with your best friend. Describe it.
  • Who is your best buddy? What do you like most about this friend? What special things do you do together?
  • If you were a superhero, what would your super human power be? Explain.
  • Write about a special time you spent with your mom.
