While the Fall can be the most challenging time in your classroom {between teaching new routines and getting back into the groove of school} I do love this season! I’m so excited to share with you a list of some amazing Fall read-alouds for your first grade and primary classroom! This list of Fall books includes some newer titles that you may not have.

Fletcher and the Falling Leaves
Fletcher the Fox is concerned about the leaves falling all around him. It’s a fun story that shares the wonder of the changing seasons.

The Leaf Thief
This is one of my son Luke’s favorite books! Squirrel panics when he realizes a leaf from his tree is missing! He sets off with his friend Bird to find out who the leaf thief may be!

The Very Last Leaf
This book is about so much more than the season of Fall! It addresses changes and worries that may come along with something new and different. Such a cute story!

A Very Big Fall
This is another book that addresses the anxiety that may come with changes. It’s a fun story that centers around three leaf characters who all have different personalities and deal with change differently.

Leif and the Fall
I love this book for the message and the unique artwork. Leif is afraid to fall from his tree because he sees it as a failure. He tries all sorts of ways to stay on the tree. This is an excellent book to remind students that it’s okay to make mistakes!

The Squirrels Who Squabbled
This is a fun story from the same author as The Koala Who Could and The Lion Inside. This book focuses on the importance of sharing.

Fall Activities
As much as we want to spend all of our days reading books, it’s not enough 🙁 Keep reading to check out a few of my favorite activities to use throughout the Fall in your first grade classroom.
