Parts of Speech Beat-the-Clock Interactive Game
I love using digital review games in the classroom! One of my favorites is my Parts of Speech Beat-the-Clock game.
I’ve never seen students so engaged and excited to study grammar and parts of speech!
Here’s how it works. First, the game is a timed {10 seconds per slide but directs are included to adjust the timing} PowerPoint with parts of speech review questions. Let it play, and then have the students record their answers on their own recording sheet.
Not only does this fun game review nouns, verbs, and adjectives, it brings out the competitive spirit in your students. When you make it a game, students hardly realize they are learning!

Mad Libs
Next, Mad Libs {affiliate link} are a fun way to review parts of speech by providing the students with a vocabulary word and then asking them to fill in the blanks with nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Use Mad Libs to practice parts of speech because they are quick and easy to make!
Finally, have advanced students write their own Mad Lib stories or pair your K-2 learners up with an upper elementary partner and have fun with Mad Libs!
Grammar Gorillas Online Game
Grammar Gorillas is an online game that helps your students learn parts of speech. Students choose the correct part of speech to complete each sentence.
When they select the right answer, the Grammar Gorilla gets a treat. You guessed it! A banana! Grammar Gorillas is perfect for second grade and up {or at the end of 1st Grade if your students are comfortable on devices!}.
Parts of Speech Poke Cards
Another game to teach parts of speech is Poke Cards! Each poke card has a word, picture, and two parts of speech (at the bottom of the card). On the back, place a sticker above the correct answer. Punch holes on the front so students can self-check their answers.
This is a great game to teach parts of speech like nouns, adjectives, and verbs.
